It was a used copy that only cost me $3. When I got home and opened it, I saw the liner notes and disc had Ronnie and Jeff's signatures.

Okay, most of my exposure to JE is stuff from The Legacy Series or later. Listening to this earlier album, I'm rather surprised at how many genuinely upbeat songs are on here.

When did Ronnie Martin stop writing happy music?

he said he wanted this record to be an electronic equivelent to MxPx. basically Robot Rock and Christiansongs are his only "upbeat" records really. every one assumed Melody was really happy (i guess teh cover art?) but he said it was a really dark time when he wrote it, and he was so irritated everyone called it a happy record, he released 5 Stars For Failure a direct reaction to the reviews. robot rock was my first JE album. saw them in nov of 97 in support. great show!

CHRISTIANsongs is rather upbeat too. Things mellowed out a lot with The White Songbook.
