Thier newer stuff doesn't go down hill, its just different. Jason Martins voice went alot deeper after the "Leave here a stranger album" and his music had much more of an 80's style. People who loved the old stuff and who've been following starflyer from the beggining were probably so suprised by the change that they decided it was rubbish. The first songs I listened to were from "I am the portugese blues" and "the talking voice vs singing voice". And the first album I bought was "my island", so when I listened to thier older stuff (gold, americana, silver ect.) I thought it was terrible! But I've really grown to like it. Just depends on what of starflyers stuff you've been listening to.

To me, Old is an album that was put together perfectly.  Not a song I don't like, and each one fits in where its at in the arrangement.  I think Jason Martin is a great example of an artist who understands the album is its own artform, as well as the individual songs that make it.

I've been listening since the beginning, and would tend to agree with those who do not enjoy the newer material as much as the older stuff.  Just for me, the cutoff is Old.
