I put together a compilation of a dozen map songs. I am calling it Pistols and Pearls and I am giving them away for free. I want you to listen and enjoy and tell your friends to tell their friends to download them. Map is still a real band. I feel like not enough people know about us so maybe this will help spread the word until the next record or tour.

thanks

That is awesome. I'm at work right now, but I can check it out and spread the word when I get home.

I plan on playing some Map for my roommate during our ten hour drive to Minnesota tomorrow... it's beautiful driving music. He's in an indie band and if they go big, maybe he'll name drop Map all over the place Grin

yeah that album with my sister is %99 done. I just need to add a few more things and then mix it. I will have a single for free download called Their way out available on bandcamp in April and I will have the full 11 song full length available in June. also available for free on bandcamp. So now what should I call it??
Map the sister sessions?
Loneliness is dangerous as performed by Katie Dooley and Josh Dooley?
thoughts?

I am totally linking to this in all my various web forum signatures, and I will totally give you some money for the new album even if it will be free. But I appreciate freeness nonetheless.

If she doesn't object to the goofy stage name, you could call yourselves Map & Compass.

Dooley, you have the gift.

Why you aren't more well known baffles me. Can't wait to hear the new stuff!

thanks. Upon years of reflection I have learned that my lack of touring is probably the biggest difference between me and those that are more successful. I did not start touring till I was 25 and by then I had an apartment and a job that I could not leave for two long. So I toured maybe 2 weeks a year as Map probably 6 times from 2000-2006. my advice is if you are 18-24 living with your parents or going to college tour all summer during school breaks. If you are gone for 6 weeks and come back with $500 you are rich. At 25 living a lone with bills etc if I came home with $500 I had to cash advance a Visa/Mastercard or just get a second job and save up for the van rental etc.
