Interesting.
So JE and Said Fantasy are going to co-exist for the foreseeable future.

Fruity titles? Pht.
JE rules. I am stoked for this. One of my favorite live shows of all time was a JE show. One of my most disappointing was SF59. Just sayin.
But I still love em.

Upon further thought, I'm not quite sure how to feel about this. Before, JE was defined by the tension between Ronnie's goal of making electronic music experiments, and his goal of making beautiful pop music. Based on that interview, it sounds as though Ronnie is splitting those two goals between the two projects, with Joy Electric being his experimental outfit, and Said Fantasy being his pop outfit.
So, now that he's trying to pursue both goals independently, rather than trying to pursue both in the same songs, will the results be better or worse?

Dance to Moroder is easily my favorite song. Such a perfect pop song.

Come to think of it, Said Fantasy's music at the Autobahn 2010 show was really darn good. If their albums are that good, I'll be happy.

I was writing something somewhat lengthy discussing your thoughts but then I remembered we were talking about Ronnie talking about his music, and that's a problem. In my experience, what Ronnie says about his forthcoming music usually has little semblance to the final product. I don't know if it's 'cause he revises his work extensively before turning it out, or maybe his musings are just that esoteric and only he gets it, but whatever it is, I've learned to take his words with a grain of salt and generally leave my expectations blank!
But yeah, Said Fantasy sounds great, and JE sounded great before its hiatus, so I have high hopes for both.

At least "Horse of Faded Grandeur" and "Ice Blankets the Landscape" were released as a single.

The funny thing about that Said Fantasy stuff--again, no idea whether SF sounds completely different now--is it's actually the kind of JE direction I really liked: the more chunky mechanical percussion backings, slightly warbly-er leads... the stuff he was doing on Cubist and Curiosities.
