I work at Warner Bros. right now and have free access to Nielsen soundscan so I thought Id post the Starflyer album sales for discussion:

Silver (labeled in soundscan as Starflyer 59): 2367
Shes the queen:  718
Gold:  2559
Le Vainqueuer:  348
Americana:  2053
Fashion Focus:  3858
Fell in love at 22:  1673
Everybody Makes Mistakes:  3339
Easy Come Easy Go:  3173
Leave Here a Stranger: 6825
Cant Stop Eating:  2715
Old:  4608
I am the Portuguese blues:  3754
Talking voice vs. singing voice:  3785
Gold Reissue: 1063
Silver reissue:  1035
My Island:  2997

Remember this is cd only sales of physical and digital releases through a retailer or online (Not from shows or re-sale)
Anyway, there ya go.  Enjoy,

well i thought he would have sold ALOT more than that!
it makes me feel alot better about my CD sales
on average SF sold 2757 units per album
and it didn't have the last couple albums on there but i can only imagine the sales went down
as a musician i wonder how many more units he would have moved if he toured more and/or T&N actually put money in to marketing the albums/band
i thought there would be way more than the off 3000+ fans out there just like me
weird!
ok that's all for now

Notice it doesn't include sales at shows.  I'd venture there were significantly more show-sales during the touring years.

i went to every show he played in the Atlanta area and not many albums were purchased at those shows mainly shirts and other merch
but even so
he only did one summer tour a year and was probably only out 1 or 2 months a year
it wouldn't have helped that much i don't think

you gotta remember this is soundscan. that means for the most part, only cds sold through major retailers. very few indie stores reported numbers, especially in the 90's and early 2000's. shows, mailorder, vinyl etc are not included (which i think would be the majority).

Would Christian bookstores fall in that category?

I'm pretty certain that Zondervan and Berean reported their numbers. Not sure about the little independent ones.
