So i'm re-encoding my Starflyer library and i've noticed that with both She's The Queen and the Silver Reissue (sounds way worse, thanks "remaster"), "The Drop" has a terrible amount of crackle in the beginning of the song, and parts throughout.  The same goes for heavier parts of GOLD as well.

Question is, is there an EQ setting you guys use for the earlier albums or just in general?  I hate listening to this stuff and having it sound blown out.  and for the record it's not my headphones, that i can tell, because it comes through my studio monitors the same way, and Droned (In Love Version) sounds really clear and spacious as it should, without any distortion (not guitar distortion except maybe at the very end.)

thoughts? feelings? questions?

it's rock n roll. its SUPPOSED to be loud. its SUPPOSED to blow out your speakers and go 80db beyond clip.

No, it's supposed to be mastered to sound good, and then you use the volume dial on your stereo to turn it up until the windows rattle.

the drop is just massive. headphones and studio monitors just cannot contain it.
i do agree that the remaster just compresses it too much.
