Is this one of anyone else's favorite Starflyer songs?  It would be in my top 5.  I've never seen it mentioned much, even amongst the diehard internet fans.

Such a unique song, even by Starflyer standards, coming out of nowhere to cap off EMM.

And how about that remix with the saxophone solo? So cool.

Another epic example of the versatility of Jason's songwriting.

Jeff Cloud told me that the saxophone solo was random
they were in the studio and in another studio within the same building this saxophone player was recording music for a porno film and he met the SF guys and they let him record over the backing track for the song as a joke and so they put it on as a hidden track. - i thought that was hilarious!

I think it was also related that it is from a session Gene was recording for some cheesy adult contemporary Christian pop stuff. That's how I remember it, anyway. I think it's weird how either story kind of works?

But seriously I do like the (real) song a lot.

In this forum's second email Q&A sessions with Jason, we asked him:

What's the story behind the instrumental reprise of "The Party" on 'Everybody Makes Mistakes'? Who played the saxophone?
I just showed up one day in the studio and it was on there. Gene Eugene was working on some other project with some session sax player, and I guess he had the guy start "riffing" on the party. He was kind of smiling a bit when he showed me, because I think we both though it sounded terrible..But then I thought it had kinda of David Bowie vibe to it, so I thought to myself...well isn't the point of making records to do something you normally wouldn't do, so we left it on... but I still think it sounds terrible even 10 years later.

It's always been one of my favorite SF59 songs.  I love everything about it.
