bazan's last album didn't get much recognition b/c it sucked (if you're referring to strange negotiations).  the one before that was decent but his bazan ep i thought kinda sucked too - and this is coming from a big pedro the fan.

You know, I think Jason should make music, but the kind of music hee wants to make. It seems he's been pressured to make fast music or change to keep up with the times or something of that idea.. I wonder what it is he truly would want to make.. ?

The Pedro the Lion albums were significantly better than the solo material because he had TW Walsh to help with the band. He has been trying to disassociate from his Christian fans for several albums. I don't like a lot of the material because I feel like I'm listening to a bitter alcoholic with a dirty mouth.

retire "starflyer 59"

Maybe he should just put it on hiatus for a while and do something else until he feels up to it. Let the songs simmer a little and give us a double record in 2 years.

A good double-album would actually be pretty amazing.

Jason HAS making the music he's wanted to for the last several years; I don't believe he's had any outside influence as to what his stuff should sound like - unfortunately the last several albums have all sounded the same, and I said earlier in a "lackluster feel."

TW Walsh was really only on the last Pedro the Lion album, Archilles Heel.  TW had his own band and projects he was recording/producing.  He wasn't really a signifigant figure in the PTL years at all in my opinion.  In fact PTL has been a lot like SF59 in the sense it's really only been Bazan. The first Pedro album was Bazan and Johnathon Ford (unwed sailor, broncho, roadside monutment), and the second was him and Casey Foubert.  The Only Reason I feel Secure album was all Bazan.  TW Walsh actually recorded, mixed and mastered the last two Bazan solo albums and Casey Foubert has continued to be featured on his new stuff.  His live band even featured, I believe, Wescott who recorded with him back in the day.

So I find your claim to be somewhat silly; he hasn't disassociated himself at all with his musician friends even from the PTL days.
