I've got the free Kindle reader for my desktop computer.

Mainly so I could read some short stories that were free downloads from Amazon.

Cool! The Kindle cloud reader is one of the best on screen reading experiences out there. Google Books is also nice.

I've had a kindle for a few years now. I picked up one of the second Gen. ones when they first came out.

I read a lot a real lot and I was living in a small apartment with no room for books this thing was a life saver. The books they offer for free is enough to keep you with reading material for a long time. Now, I rarely read books that aren't on it.

The only non-digital books I buy are comic books and thats just because I have been since I was a little kid. I am slowly making the switch over to digital comic books using my ipad but its still something I am a little hesitant on.

same thing, but as said.... you can run android gingerbread on a nook color (if you have a properly configured SD card). Cheesy

No idea. I rely on my desktop. The book I just have for reading books at work.  Still fooling wih it.... I manage to get a few (3-4) days out of each charge, but I hardly touch it at home.

ordered a nook for my book-loving niece. Smiley Perfect present I've been looking for.

Any good free sources for good free books?

not sure about free.... i dont read much, wife uses it as a e-reader, but she mainly reads Manga, or romance crap. i just use it for an android tablet basically, and with the option to read on a rare occasion. i can check out ebooks from the library so that works for free, i mainly just read biographies... so it just depends on what subjects i'm interested in on whether or not i want to read.

if she is any interested in going droid with it...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957

really is easy as cake. just follow all the way up to the last step of "how to install gappss"

after that i was watching netflix, using facebook, photoshop express, etc, on the nook Smiley and since android boot priority goes to SD Card first, the "hack" is completely isolated to the sd card. remove the card, remove the hack, and it just boots up as the nook.

I'm stoked! Starting mid-day yesterday, the Kindle went into permanent boot loop, or whatever you want to call it. It just reboots all day. So, my wife called Amazon support and the guy simply said, "It's under warranty, I'll ship a new one out today."

He didn't even do troubleshooting with her! That tells me that they're not making any money on the Kindle sales, but rather they're making huge dollars on e-books.

All we have to do is ship back the one we have.

Best customer service I've seen in awhile!
