I read in your blog that you're a NASCAR/F-1 fan.  Who do you follow?

Ah! Dale Earnhardt Jr. is our first love (my wife's even more a fan of him than I am), but as far as the championship goes, we are seriously pulling for Jeff Gordon--the drive for five, baby!

What about you?

Have you seen the site Restrictor Plate This!? That's my buddy Jerry's blog (mostly), and he was one of the guys responsible for giving me the NASCAR bug. Smiley

Oh, F1: I don't follow it as closely as I once did, but I enjoy watching it sometimes. NASCAR will always be my 'main squeeze' as far as racing is concerned. Wink

Ewww.. that's worst than a football couch potato. Grin Tongue

joking as always.

I've been wondering so myself. Some importantly, been wondering how Nascar can be entertaining without crashes or some moron heading the wrong way for head-on collisions. (gotta love video games Grin)

It's more than the crashes. It's the pleasure of seeing a well-executed pass, seeing near-misses, and seeing grown men cheat death at almost 200mph every week. It's the storylines behind the race and the personalities of our favorite drivers versus 'the enemy' (others' favorites). Plus there's the comraderie associated with being fans, in that there's just not as many as there are for the stick-and-ball sports, so NASCAR fans tend to stick together. Even if it's a Dale Jr. (the favorite son) fan talking with a Jimmie Johnson (the enemy) fan.  Wink

To answer your question, I am a Denny Hamlin fan.  I grew up a Dale Earnhardt fan.  My Dad and I rooted for him since the Wrangler car days.  This year I have gotten very bored with NASCAR and have become much more interested in sports car racing.  My wife and I are huge racing fans and have been to quite a few sports car races this year.  We're also F-1 fans, though she is a Ferrari fan and I am a McLaren fan.  I also have a HUGE love for offroad desert racing.

^^ Yeah, I've gotten bored with it too, somewhat. I listen to the races now on radio and watch them when I can, but just the Cup race (I used to keep up with all three series) and I skip the pre- and post-race stuff. There's just better things to do with the time.

^ Well, a lot of fans are getting bored; the TV ratings have been on a steady decline for a while now. I used to be a lot more passionate about it than I am now. (shrug)

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series - last race on tonight! I wish I could've kept up with the truck series more this year, because I hear that that's where the action's been.

Well, the exciting NASCAR series, the truck series, concluded tonight. I'm not even sure I want to find out who wins on Sunday. Tongue

We missed the truck race last night, but I was hoping that Mike Skinner would get the championship.  I was happy to see Johnny Benson win though!

I was rooting for Hornaday myself. So glad that Benson won!
