My name is Leah, I'm 23 and live in California. Starflyer 59 has been my favorite band since I was 12. I realized they were my favorite when my older brother went away to college and took all his cds, thus making it impossible for me to sneak in his room and steal his SF59 (as well as others) cds to listen to. So I saved up my money and began collecting. That was in 1999. The first time I ever heard the band was while watching one of the Tooth & Nail VHS tapes and "A Housewife Love Song" came on. I was probably nine years old at the time.

Anyway, I found out about this forum from a seller on eBay that I bought one of my SF59 vinyls from. I signed up several months ago, but never posted. I got serious with my collecting when my friend sent me several hard to find vinyls and EPs that he got while visiting the label headquarters when he was in a band on T&N. I would post my list of what I have, but maybe later I'll just take a photo.

My favorite song is No New Kinda Story and my favorite album cannot be picked. But I do favor Americana and Everybody Makes Mistakes. I've seen them live only once back when I was eighteen and even got Jason to take a picture with my toy dinosaur that I carry in my purse.

Um.

I feel like I just typed a novel.  Lips sealed

edit: Also, my other favorite bands are Thrice and ISIS; my favorite movie is Big Fish; I love burritos, pita chips & hummus.
And my dog has a Yoda costume.

Greetings from Texas.
I posted a thread already in the main SF59 forum with a little of my history of being a fan.

Glad to have found this place.

Hello people!  My name is Daniel.  I’m nineteen, and I feel like I'm really late in joining this board....
Anyhow, I've been a Starflyer fan for a lot of years now; probably more than half of my life, but I’m not certain how long.  I don’t have all of the “less common” releases, but I'm working on that problem- if you’re selling something, I’d probably be interested.  I wouldn't say that they're my favorite band, but they're definitely in the top ten.  Other music I listen to is that boring out-of-style stuff like Blindside, Staple, Radiohead, Blaster the Rocketboy/Man and pretty much everything else.  The only other really important thing I want people to know about me is that I love Jesus.

God bless you all.

My name is bus faucet (pronounced like "Warren").  I was created at the union between the toy bus that was on my wood stove and the faucet at my kitchen sink.  I'm 22, and I grew up and live a little ways north of Seattle.

I hadn't knowingly listened to Starflyer until around early 2005 or so, when listened to some of their stuff on Purevolume, they had some songs from TVvSV up at the time, but I didn't really get into it much.  Then in early 2008 I decided to listen to what they on on their Myspace.  I think specifically the songs were The Contest Completed, When I Learn to Sing, Fell in Love at 22, and Everyone But Me.  I really like the 50's/60's sound that was going on, and I especially liked Fell in Love at 22, so I decided to try and find some CD's. First up was Old.  I really like the Loved Ones, Passengers, and New Wife, New Life (wacky riff, man!).  Then second album I got was Everybody Makes Mistakes, which I eventually decided I liked more than Old   My third album was Gold, which would go on to be my favorite.  I don't remember much specifically after that, but now I have all their albums, and am in the process of getting some of the other stuff.

Anyway, I found this site a few months ago and have been lurking since.

Also, I credit Jason as the inspiration for my desire of single-coils and tremolo.

My favorite color is blue.

Ive been a member since Aug. 2010 but forgot to post my "hello". Anyways, here we go.

Long time SF59 fan from Seattle, WA. I started listing somewhere in 1999/2000 after hearing "No New Kinda Story" on the various comp "Cheap Skates Vol. 1 (the softer side)". I am 24 now and that was a long time ago. My love for Starflyer 59 has grown more and more. Long live.

i don't know how i  missed this:

my name is Matthew Schwartz
I am currently 31 years old I currently live in Baton Rouge, LA but i am from Atlanta, GA
I play in a band called Pacifico (www.pacificorock.com)
i like the peanut M&M's myself
i got into Starflyer when i went to the Christian store and I read the Diamante music list and through the musical references it looked like i would like SF59 so i bought their She's the queen EP and I couldn't stop listening to it and shortly after a friend/bandmate of an early band of mine let me borrow Silver and that was it. I have since bought and own EVERY single song Jason Martin has done. My favorite album is "Leave Here A Stranger" and favorite song is probably?..."Passengers"?
I have seen SF59 play everytime they played Atlanta
I count myself very lucky to have had the chance to record with Jason in 2008
and to become friends with Ronnie and even have him manage my band at one point (he also did a remix of one of my songs)
I think SF59 is my top favorite band right up there with Radiohead, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Weezer
thanks for reading

Hello!

I'm Eli, and I first heard of Starflyer when I got a comp called Cheapskates. I fell in love with No New Kinda Story.
The eerie yet calm sound of it as a kid enthralled me. When all I had been hearing at that age was Squad, Mxpx, Blink 182, Weezer, this was a big and welcome change.
Ever since then, I've been hell bent on collecting his vinyl. There's just something about a tangible, big, crisp piece of art that can be played that captures me. Pops, clicks, and fuzz.
My friends consistently make jokes about my "obsession" with SF59, but why not listen to it all the time when it's just plain good?  Wink

Other favorite music? Well. BRMC. Johnny Cash. And from there, the list goes on.. haha

Shameful plug...

but I am in a band called THE SCURVIES. if you want to listen to us, cool. if you don't, cool. We can still talk about SF59 either way. That is enough.  Cheesy

Welcome to Sf59 Fans!

I'm trying to remember where I've heard of The Scurvies before....the name sounds oddly familiar.
