$9 for a cassette and $14 for a CD--that's a lot of money. I was just thinking about Tooth and Nail the other day. Really few if any bands on that label were ever able to have much longevity or make a lot of money. Underoath and Jeremy Camp have probably paid for Brandon Ebel's mortgage, but what about the rest of the bands?

Probably depends on the band. Most T&N bands seemed to average about 2 albums, but today a lot bands are lucky to get more than one out before they break up.. Tooth & Nail (at least back in the early years) was known as one of the better labels to get a contract with. As far as the prices - the standard price for a cassette when that catalog was printed was $11, and the standard price for a CD was $16. This was back before iTunes, eBay, Amazon, and a whole slew of others made it easy to pick up music for cheap.

Now, new Cd's are $12+ dollars a piece. You can't buy more than 2 for less than $30 it seems. Used music is a blessing.

You can get some sweet deals on CDs on eBay. I don't understand the 99 cents a song thing. If you make a mix CD with 20 songs on it that CD would cost you $20.

I only use I-tunes for albums. $9.00 is cheaper than $20.00, but still expensive compared to $3.00 at half.com. So we can see.... Stores < I-tunes < Half.com/Ebay.

Imeem.com has a lot of free music to listen to when you're sitting at the computer. You should check it out. There's even a Starflyer group on there.

Jono, what's going on? The gallery seems to have disappeared. Also, I finally got a decent pic of my "Last Laurel" vinyl. Warning: 2MB picture.

I'll let Jono explain that, if he wants to. Suffice it to say, I hope everyone had backups of their pictures. In the meantime, it's back up: http://www.sf59fans.com/gallery/

'Case you've noticed, the gallery sort of disappeared. Can we talk about uploading stuff again?

I wanted to know myself, at one point, and I'm not sure I found out what the deal is. Yours looks like an ancient coin too, right? I doubt they made an alternate commercial pressing of this release, so I'm guessing one of these versions is a promo of some type.

Yeah, that's what mine looks like. I think I prefer the mystery CD design better

Tooth and Nail sent me the blue disc back when I ordered in early 2001. Later on I happened upon a copy with the coin disc and thought it must be a rarity (sort of like the copies of the Silver disc that read Star flier instead of Star flyer). Maybe one of them is a re-issue.
