1. Do you own copies of all your own works? Some artists don't even own some of the original, out of print stuff. A couple of years ago, on Ebay, one of our members saw The Drop 7" come through and it sold for just under $200.00. The username that bought it I believe had Martin in the name. Was that you or a family member?
Ya, I have always made sure I've kept a couple of copies of everything we have put out...As far as selling the drop, I never have...Who knows, maybe it was my wife

2. Will there ever be a Joy Electric/Starflyer tour? Are there any plans to tour with a full band again?
Me and my brother have our small trucking business together, and their is no way for us both to leave at the same time. As far as touring with a full band, when you are / play with 30 something year old guys, it is very hard to get everybody out on the road / and take care of them on the average $400 guarantee we would get playing somewhere....But I definitely would love too.
3. It is true that you are a shy person?
No, I don't think I am a shy person, I have just always been a little uncomfortable with the idea that I sing for a band that people buy records of...I have never been "that crazy frontman, what is he gonna do next" kind of guy.
4. Are you satisfied with what your band has accomplished?
Ya, to have put out records for such a long period of time is pretty cool, but... as can be expected some of it is hit and miss. I have always tried to put out good music, or at least music that I thought was good at the time, hopefully thru the years their has been some good songs that have come out of it. When we started putting out records in 94 or 95, if someone would have told me we would still be putting out records in 2007 or whatever, I would have thought they were crazy.
5. What is it like getting to work with such a varied revolving cast of supporting musicians?
I have got to work with some really talented people thru the years, which has helped me to learn a lot of things from recording, to song writing, production, etc..It has also been cool for the band to always have a revolving sound of sorts, mainly because the people playing on it are different, which always adds a different take to the music.
6. Do you still keep a day job, or are you able to make a living off of your music?
Ya, me and my brother have our small business together which is my main job, and I do music on the side. I have been doing a lot of mixing and mastering gigs as of late for other people, which is something that I enjoy...and obviously working on my own songs when I have the time.
7. Who was the Matt who played drums on the first Bon Voyage album?
Matt McCarty...Not sure if that is how you spell it...He was the singer / drummer for this band that was on tooth and nail a long time ago called Driver 8.
8. When is the next album coming out and will it be on vinyl?
We will start recording the new record at the beginning of January.... as far as a vinyl release I would say that more than likely their will be one available at some point next year.
9. Which musicians inspired you and have influenced your talent today?
Working with Gene Eugene for those few years before he passed away probably was the biggest influence on me and how I work. He had a way of looking at the music, and making people feel comfortable, which usually leads to good performances, which turns into good recordings...I think that the best music I ever made / will make was working with Gene.
10. What is your favorite color? Do you like green?
"I wear black on the outside, because black is how I feel on the inside"
