Old. It's off the Velvet Blue Music 12 Song Sampler, which came out 1997.

Ah, cool. Thanks for sharing it. I messaged Jason asking if the quote on the BV Myspace is accurate.

Anybody who likes Sf59 needs to check out Bon Voyage. In case you don't know yet (shame!), Bon Voyage is pretty much Starflyer 59 but with Jason's wife Julie singing. The songs are all written by Jason and he still plays the guitar, but Julie does all the singing. They also have a bassist who (as far as I know) doesn't play with Sf59.
The self-titled first album sounds, to me, like Americana and The Fashion Focus mashed together--a lot of the happy pop vibe is there, but with that amazingly fuzzy guitar tone. The song "West Coast Friendship" on Sf59's Can't Stop Eating EP was first recorded here as a Bon Voyage song.
The second album, The Right Amount, is a bit more enigmatic. I think it contains elements of both Old and Talking Voice vs. Singing Voice--but this was released before either of those albums! Ronnie M. and Richard Swift provides synths and keyboards to the album. The song "The Telephone" is a song everyone needs to hear, if not the rest of the album. It is a true masterpiece at exactly one half-hour in length.
I think it was the same keyboard player aswell until he died. I think I remember reading about it in starflyer 59s biograthy.

:oBon Voyage is just an outlet for the songs Jason writes that aren't macho enough for him to sing. No, seriously, it is.

Great, I bought Novel a few weeks ago! I should have gotten Dirt Floor Hotel Part 1 instead and bought Novel now.
