I still have no clue why you guys prefer vinyl over digital... especially when vinyl costs so much more.
*edit Boy have I been misspelling simple words lately.. every few words!
Have you listened to a record lately? There's just something cool about listening to a record in your home. I do think the sound is better, especially if you have a nicer turntable. The other cool thing is that if you listen to bands who release vinyl, you often get to listen/own things that aren't released to CD (like Ghosts).

Sure, I can see how it would be cool to listen to records instead, but almost all songs aren't good enough to be played like they are masterpieces, hate to say it but.. even SF59's. I guess it's still just an opinion though.

You only say that because you haven't heard SF on vinyl. I kid, I kid. I haven't heard them on vinyl either, yet. Seeing as I own a few vinyls, however, I intend to procure a turntable and hear the difference for myself.

Only the SF59 vinyl has been expensive. I have bought many new records for $10 or less. I bought my copy of Americana for $10. I think most of SF59's song are awesome and sound wonderful when played on my record player while relaxing. I do hate getting up to turn the record over though!

Most vinyl is cheaper than CDs. And most new vinyl, from larger indie labels, includes free MP3 downloads of the album. I only buy CDs when a vinyl version of the album is not available. Check out Matador Records for example, they have a terrific business model all labels should follow.

Oh, well if it's cheaper on Vinyl, I guess there's a big plus for vinyl. Still though, I'm just sticking to MP3.

Most MP3's limit the sound quality of the music.

Maybe so, but on a computer I cannot tell between full-quality wav and compressed mp3. Depends on the bit rate of course, but 192-320 sounds about the same to me. I do like the style/idea of vinyl... too bad it's not digital-age.

i agree that vinyl is usually cheaper. if you get 60s 70s 80s vinyl it is always very cheap
i got a set of 8 U2 records for 4$ at a garage sale...to buy all those CDs would have cost 100$.
i like listening on vinyl for things that were recorded for vinyl ie beatles, bowie, or newer indie bands like spoon.
and things on CD that were recorded for CD like radiohead, the flaming lips etc.
in my opinion, it always sounds the best on the medium it was created most for.

I don't wanna brag....well too much anyway , but as one of the test pressing subscribers, I get a signed poster as well as having the box set signed. The signed poster that comes with the box set is not the same as these $30 posters - if that is what you are implying.

Man I'm not impressed with the box. It looks like something my brother in-law would make in his high school wood working class. I was hoping for much more.
Your b-i-l is in high school? Man, your sister must be a cradle-robber.
