Any of you remember Joe Christmas? They were on Tooth & Nail Records and put out two albums and a 7". The first was Upstairs Overlooking and the second (and much better) was North To The Future. The 7" was called "Dreaming For The Gold". I have the second album on vinyl, the 7" and both CD's and a nice "Best Of" (made by me). It's really nice relaxing music. Tooth & Nail PageMySpace Page

They also had a Couple Skate 7" out on Flying Tart before Upstairs Overlooking came out. It had Couple Skate, I Love Rock N' Roll, and My Name is Not John Travolta.

Really? I didn't know they were on Flying Tart. I'm guessing finding that 7" is pretty much impossible.

Hmm... I don't know - I've never actually tried to find it. Upstairs, Overlooking was originally recorded for Flying Tart, until T & N bought it away.

If you are interested, since it is out of print and probably hard to find, here you go: coupleskate.zip - 11.96MBSee the tags for artwork and scans. I own Dreaming for the Gold, but I haven't ripped it to digital yet.

I think their best was definitely "North To the Future". They sounded a bit more polished. If anyone is interested, I can host that for a few hours as well.

According to their MySpace page--
"in AP english we were reading "A Light in August" by William Faulkner when zach's girlfriend, katie, suggested we rename the band after the novel's central character, Joe Christmas. we talked about it. our friend jason dempsey had just started playing drums with us and he thought it'd be unique. we agreed. it was settled."
I'm not sure what happened to them. They seemed to be like most T&N bands. Record 1 or 2 albums and then dissapear.

No problem. If anyone has Dreaming for the Gold in digital format, I would love to hear that. I own the record, but not a record player. I will solve that problem someday, but would like to hear it before then. Also, if yo have never seen their video, it's pretty cool:

"After playing with Joe Christmas, Zach Greshman formed a band called Summer Hymns, which released the album Voice Brother and Sister on Mistra Records. Produced by Chris Colbert (of Breakfast with Amy and Fluffy), the album displays a more organic sound than Joe Christmas's work, with banjo and keyboards replacing the fuzzed out electric guitars." - Mark Allen Powell, Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music http://www.myspace.com/summerhymns

Joe Christmas - Dreaming For the Gold 7"Here you go. I did not include the song "Dreaming For The Gold" since it's on "North To The Future". Enjoy. There's a bunch of Summer Hymns downloads available here. Scroll down the page to find them.
