I only saw this band mentioned once, but I thought I would share this download link I found. Enemy Ships started off as The Emergency. The band was: Travis Zimmerman (Jupiter James/Bon Voyage) - Vocals Jason Martin - (SF59) - Guitars Dirk Lemmennes - (SF59/Stavesacre) - Bass Ryan Denne (Stavesacre) - Guitars Frank Lenz (Fold Zandura/Lassie Foundation/SF59) - Drums At some point, I think Josh Dooley (SF59/Map) played guitar. They were signed to Atlantic Records and recorded an album called Enemy Ships that will apparently never be released. At some point, they had to change their name to Enemy Ships, with "The Emergency" becoming the name of their first album. Someone somehow got their hands on the album and offered it for download here: http://savefile.com/projects/1085902If you want to hear the music before downloading, you can see this MySpace fan page (also posted previously in the Neon Horse discussion): http://www.myspace.com/enemyshipsemergencyGreat stuff - shame it will never get released.

Just listening to it today in the background at work. Reminds me a lot of Switchfoot with Jason Martin on guitars. And that's a compliment.

Anyone ever listen to the lyrics of "Slow Poke"? Somebody, please tell me I'm hearing that wrong! If not, that really surprised me. (And I really liked the first Aunt Bettys album.)

No, you're not hearing it wrong. "No time for the charms, I need to be such a slut ..." What's great is that I think they know how ridiculous the lyrics are. In "Bullets and Guns" when he says, "You make me knees start knocking and my hips start shaking like Jello," Travis laughs at his what he's singing. They lyrics on this album are a joke. Is that what it takes to get signed to a major label??

On another note, I think that "Sorry Doesn't Work" and "Broken Hearts Don't Stop" would have gotten some serious radio time had the album been released.

Signed? Yes. Actually get an album released? No. I guess the musical integrity was still a little too much, heh.

I've wondered before if this album was made for the sole purpose of the band members finding out if they actually could get some mainstream press. So they tried to do what everyone else thinks is cool, or something like that.

The link in the first post still works. You have to scroll down to the orange "Download" button, and you may need to click it multiple times.
