Hmm.. Hulk Hogan this time? Bleh, let's hope it'll be entertaining without the complete hollywood crap..
What were the other similar shows like this one? I remember seeing one or two probably in '97 or '98 or something.
I really like the idea and concept of them. It's like WWE without the soap opera storylines, pretend 'wrestling', and it's an actual tournament.
Can't wait..

The thing I liked about the original show was that it was sort of cheesy and fun like the old WWF. This new show is trying to be more like the XFL, Vince McMahon or WWE. I will enjoy the new show probably, but I think it's either going to be a success or get canceled quickly.

I think any time you re-release something there will always be issues of comparison. Re-releasing American Gladiators is an interesting idea, but it's possible that people might not even like the remake and wish for the old show.

I've watched most of it tonight and it's pretty decent. The Ali lady is a pretty good host. Hogan is so-so. The events are fairly different with more events where failing means falling into water.
The Eliminator is tough. The ladies on the first episode took almost 4 minutes to complete it. You have to climb a wall, swim, climb a pyramid, roll around on a large object, do the arm pedaling thing, ride a zip line, climb a cargo net and at the end there is a treadmill. It's pretty intense.
I like the show, but there are too many darn commercials.
