For those who are a fan of the first two SF59 albums here are some other bands to enjoy.

Duraluxe
Lift to experience
Hammock
Raspberry Jam
Driver Eight
Prayer Chain ("Mercury", mainly)
Ester Drang (get "golden gate" or "Infinate Keys")

I can't remember anymore offhand. Add some if you think of anymore..

Morella's Forest
Velour 100
Also, I think the Prayer Chain's Antarctica fits as well

Jesse Eubanks did a CD called Meditations.....and it is all ambient music with little vocals. He says it is good for prayer or meditation but I get to distracted if there is music playing...but I do like it a lot!

I lOVE Mercury and Hammock!!!!  I wish I could afford to get some more Hammock. THey are putting out a new CD soon with surprise art work!

I really like Hammock, but all I have is the CD and vinyl pressing they put out of Stranded Under Endless Sky a couple of years ago. I really want more but other wanted items usually come up before I have money with which to buy their other stuff.

Velour 100 is awesome! Jono turned me on to them. I think I might queue some up for the drive home.

At the risk of sounding like I'm being paid, I have to say that anyone who likes V100 might like the Japanese band Bon Voyage, especially 'A Beautiful Day'.

Velour 100 is cool but I wouldn't call them ambient or shoegazer unless that happens on the 2 discs I don't have.

Hammock is also good I too only have the first cd and the vinyl. I would like to get more but they are at the bottom of a long long list of stuff I want to get.

The thing about the shoegazer thing is that most of the bands that did it don't play anymore.

You should check out Cool Hand Luke and The Myriad. And while you're at it: Joe Christmas, Pedro the Lion, Atari Champ, Delta Haymax, Copeland and Lovedrug.

OH GEEEEZ! How did we not mention Charity Empressa!!!!! They are awesome. The best hands down in my opinion!  They are perfect. Thanks grimaudjr for bringing that up!!!  And after a new Lassie Foundation and finishing a new CUSH (which everyone should check out at least their self titled CD) Eric says he wants to do another CE!!!! YESSSSSS!!!! Could be a great year for music if only I could afford it!

Well and not to mention Herb Grimaud Jr.'s very own Sound Gallery.  This music is right up there with anyone mentioned here but I guess HGjr. just doesn't want to self promote Smiley  Check him out; I think there is a myspace.  But alas I don't have money to buy so I just listen on the web as much as I can until the day comes  that I buy SG out!

Fall Sounds is the album I was thinking of.

The Listening is also another good one...kind of has a Pink Floyd sound to it but very good.
Also, The Violet Burning's self titled CD. Very good noise/rock/shoegazer stuff

Wow! I can't believe I forgot Charity Empressa! I have the EP. I'd like for them to re-release the self-titled CD. I'd also like to hear the new one. I added Jesse Eubanks on myspace. I'll check out Herb Grimaud Jr.

I don't like Velour 100 very much.

You don't have to.  But an interesting connection is that Trey Many, front man for Velour 100, has been in the lineup of SF59 off and on in recent years.

Front man? I had assumed he was the drummer, since he played drums on My Island. Interesting.
