Is there anyone who listens to mix tapes on here? I have some SF59 and Bon Voyage mix tapes if anyone is interested.

I understand the whole nostalgia thing, but I just don't have the patience to sit at home and listen to tapes on a boombox. I have a CD player in one car and only a radio in the other one. Smiley

What I have always enjoyed about mix tapes is how much fun it is when the music on the tape comes together--when you do it right you just want to listen to the tape all the way through. I think mix tapes are something you need for road trips. Although with the price of gas I don't plan on taking many of those. I don't typically listen to tapes at home, but I'm not throwing out my cassette decks either. I like a mix tape in the car because it's much easier than a CD since I don't have to turn the thing on and off when I get out of the car. Also switching out a tape is quicker than switching out a CD--you never have to worry about scratching a tape either. And besides who would steal the cassettes out of your car?

I make mix cd's from time to time. Good way to get mp3's off my computer and free up space.

Most of the time, I just group them by what sounds good together, though I have made a few themed mixes based on prompts I received on another messageboard.

With most tapes I make I usually put my favorite songs by one or two particular bands. Whereas each song on a "true mix tape" is from a different artist. I did one mix tape called "Singles for the Single" and it had songs about being single.

"Singles for the Single"
Side A
Weezer "Across the Sea": "Why are you so far away from me?"
Veronica "Alone, Again in Spring": "I'm happier alone."
Joy Electric "Candy Cane Carriage": "Oh what can I do when you break my heart in two?"
Starflyer 59 "Just Try": "So this is how it feels when you've got no one."
Pedro the Lion "Diamond Ring": "But you still said, 'no.' You would not have me."
Vroom "Dumb Like That": "When you smiled I thought that it meant something else."
Brandtson "Guest List": "You've got a lot of nerve to break my heart this way."
Ace Troubleshooter "Don't Trust That Girl": "Don't trust that girl, she's up to no good. She'll mess with you like no one should."
Side B
Weezer "Pink Triangle": I'm dumb she's a lesbian... Everyone's a little queer, why can't she be a little straight?"
MxPx "GSF": "Forget this thing called 'love.' It's a waste of time. Girls ain't no good anymore, any way."
Logos "Wrong Love": "She can't give you everything."
Punkture "Lonely Days": "Sitting alone and lonely I need you by my side."
The Huntingtons "Too Late": "It's too late. I'm talking to myself, I don't need nobody else."
MxPx "Do You Feet Hurt?": "Can I leave you a message on your machine? Letting you know that you're the bomb and you blew up on me."
Punkture "Light Blue Overalls": "Sometimes I cry when I'm feeling all alone, hoping something might just work out."
Huntingtons "Be My Baby": "I'll make you happy baby, just wait and see. For every kiss you give me, I'll give you three."
MxPx "Without You": "I've got a confession to make: that my heart would break to hear you say 'Goodbye.'"
Value Pac "Loner": "I don't know what it is that's so wrong with me, but the ladies just don't look my way."
MxPx "Let It Happen": "I want someone to love. A girl that when I think of will put a smile on my face. I wanna hold her hand. Want her to understand there's got to be a better place than this world."

I did not go to Liberty. But there are a lot of people over at the board at decapolis.com that know about Vroom too.
