I have seen a few of those sites: I Believe in Harvey Dent, Why So Serious, and both versions of The Gotham Times.

I was already excited about the film, just because I thought Batman Begins was so great. So all that viral stuff made me more excited simply by virtue of constantly reminding me about the movie coming out.

I just hope they don't get carried away and start relegating plot points to the supplemental materials, like the later two Matrix films and (reportedly, I haven't seen it myself) Cloverfield.

Here's the neat thing about Cloverfield that the movie reviewers don't seem to understand. There is no plot. There is no character buildup. There is no understanding as to what is going on. It is a true 'first person' movie. You're in the movie with the characters, at 'street level' and you're wondering what's going on, just like the characters in the movie are. You only know what they know.

There is also no point in the movie. It's just a film to put 85 minutes into the small time-frame of the actual story. Another film exactly like this is "Right at Your Door", which I think had my attention more.

I'm still waiting for something like the "Planet of the Apes" (1968-1973) series. "I Am Legend" was great, but the ending killed it.

I don't visit any "viral" sites.

I love all three of those Brad Bird films you mentioned.

ok so this summer, Ive seen

Iron Man: Really enjoyed this movie, though, I never was that much of a fan of the Tony Stark character, so I guess I didn't like it as much as it was actually good

Speed Racer: Omg, I loved this film, maybe its the old Speed Racer fan in me speaking but definitely one of my favorites this summer

Incredible Hulk: Very well done adaption of the comics. Edward Norton did a really good job of capturing the character, I enjoyed it much more than I did Iron Man

Wall-E: Amazing movie. Simply amazing. Definitely my new favorite PIxar film...and thats saying alot. I saw it three times this summer and enjoyed it every time.

Chronicles of Narnia 2: meh. I thought it could have been done better. I liked it, but when you release a movie around so many other very good movies, its kinda hard to see the good in it.

The Dark Knight: No doubt, the best movie this year. I can't really express how good it was, just go see it.

Oh man. That movie. I just saw it tonight and I need more time to process it. It was intense.

Yes, it could be the best movie of the year.

Don't you think the Dark Knight ought to be rated R?

Agreed.

Though for the most part, I think it's the psychological aspect of the film, rather than the on-screen violence, that pushes it into R territory. (With the exception of Harvey Dent at the end. His face alone is pretty nightmarish.) It's as much a psychological thriller as it is a superhero action movie.

It seems like the move is more about the Joker than it is about Batman.

I enjoy following Box Office Mojo and seeing which movies make the most money. One thing I suspect is that the majority of the movies that make more than $100,000,000 are from the last few years and I think that's due to the increase in the price of tickets. Tickets sold is much better way to evaluate how a movie is doing, but of course Hollywood only cares about money.
