I dug up this old issue of Visions of Gray on eBay with a cover story and interview of Jason Martin. This interview was after Silver had come out, but before She's the Queen. This is total trivia for those that are interested, Some interesting early tidbits about Jason and SF59: - Jason actually played drums on Silver and Dan Reid just "put his name on there." (EDIT: Jason said that Dan is a great guy, just didn't want to commit to the band as much as was needed, so he had to leave)
- Jason played drums in Fluffy for about two months
- Before they were signed, they had about 17 demo songs recorded. They were a band for 5 or 6 months before they were signed to T & N, and had never played live.
- They originally signed to a two album deal with T&N.
- This is pretty well known, but the split with his brother was amicable - they just both wanted to lead a band.
- Jason said he likes punk rock music with melodies. He said "the next record" will be slower songs because he can't sing to fast songs. If he could, he would be in a punk band. In fact, he said he hates singing, it's just hard to have other people sing your stuff.
- "I'll use a K-Mart guitar if it sounds cool."
- He listened to Daniel Amos 8-tracks when he was six years old. Also Larry Norman.
- Shaded Pain by L.S.U. was his favorite album of all time, Christian or secular (at the time of this interview).
- "being 'alternative' is not being alternative. It's such a stupid word. I mean, if I was truly alternative, I'd start a heavy metal band. You know what I mean? Heavy metal is alternative now, because 'alternative' is stupid. If people get a tube amp, they think they're 'alternative.' That's a kind of ridiculous concept."
- Terry Taylor is one of his biggest heroes. He said he would love to meet him someday or even have him produce an album.
- After mentioning that he has The Drop for sale, he says my favorite quote, probably referring to a vinyl album, not a 7-inch: "What I really wanna so is have a vinyl record. If we ever get something out on vinyl, God can just take me up right them"

they recorded at the green room. euguene would occasionally add parts (look at gold and americana), so by the time of the fashion focus, he was pretty much a member of the band. it wasn't until everybody makes mistakes, however, that he was credited as a member of the band.
