Daniel Amos was a huge influence on both Ronnie and Jason back in the day.

I have a few albums from them (the most recent being Daniel Amos' "Mr. Buechner's Dream" (which is mostly superb), and the oldest being The Swirling Eddies "Let's Spin". (Used to have "The Berry Vest" on cassette too). Have a nice copy of "Zoom Daddy" too.

Any thoughts on their music (new or old)? Any opinions on the newer albums?

As an aside, Terry Taylor said one of his career highlights was producing LHAS

I have Zoom Daddy; given to me by a church friend. Don't know what to think of it.

I also have The Lost Dogs' Gift Horse and I like it a bunch.

I find Mr. Buechner's Dream to be totally superb, but some parts did take a little growing on me. It's hard to find their older stuff, which I have lamented before. Anyway, I do totally see how Taylor's songwriting has influenced the Martins but particularly Jason. I don't know how to describe the commonality, though.

My mom was a DA fan growing up, but I've never listened to much of their stuff. My sister had that Swirling Eddies tape with the "Hide the Beer the Pastor's Here Song". These days I mostly enjoy the LD stuff.

I recently found a copy of DA's Our Personal Favorite World Famous Hits at Goodwill and bought it. It's made me hungry for one of their full albums now.

I love "The Pool", so maybe I'll start with Fearful Symmetry. Or are The ¡Alarma! Chronicles better when listened to in order?

I am a huge DA fan and think SF59 is the nearest thing to DA making records at this point.  The last DA record came out 8 years ago, and yes, it's great.

"Darn Floor - Big Bite" was re-issued last year and that is fantastic.

I love the nod to DA on the song Minor Keys: "Thru the Speakers."

I found a copy of Let's Spin by the Swirling Eddies last weekend and have been listening to it a bunch. Great stuff.

Now you just need to get the very best album of the four. Fearful Symmetry. Of course, you have Jason Martin's favorite, so that's something.

This oddly awesome. In the last 3 months I have found 4 DA records, 1 altar boys record and 1 choir record at either Goodwill or half priced books.
DA: Shotgun Angel, Alarma!, Fearful Symmetry and Darn Floor -Big bite
Altar Boys: Against the Grain
The Choir: Chase the Kangaroo.

Oh yeah and Ray Boltz "thank you for giving to the Lord" single on clear blue vinyl!

I have actually heard Fearful Symmetry, and I have to agree with Jason that Vox Humana is the best of the lot. Or maybe Doppelganger, depending on my mood. Now, if the entirety of FS were closer to "The Pool", then it would be my fave. Such an awesome song.
