I just received my copy of Portuguese Blues (the 12" record, not the CD) in the mail.
I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but I'm curious how everyone feels about its exclusive tracks as compared to the rest of the Portuguese Blues material.

Any thoughts?

I enjoy both of the exclusive tracks. "Troubles" has a slightly different feel compared with the rest of the "Portuguese" tracks, but I don't think it would have hurt to include it on the album (help pad it out a little!). I think it has a bit of a southern rock flair.

"He'll Leave Me Alone" is just plain fun to me--kind of a twisted campfire song. Jason must have been having a bad day or something when he wrote that.

Are they going to re-release Portuguese Blues? Looking at the Myspace, 'Wake Up Early' is on there, and the album art has the same sort of 'deluxe' look that they did for Gold and Silver.

Troubles is an amazing song and makes that album worth it.  The art is kinda lame though even Jason has told me he dislikes it alot.

That would be peculiar since the CD's been out only since '04. What they're displaying on the MySpace is the back of the CD's art, actually.

That's interesting; I could take or leave the back artwork but I do enjoy the art of the band.

Yea I was talking to him one time and when I pulled the record out of my bag for an autograph he just cringed and said something to the effect of how he hates the cover of that album and he then apologized for it and we went on to talk about how many copies of the Drop he has etc...

All in all it was a good night of him and Dooley in Brooklyn. But Josh had dissapointment that I didn't bring my Pony E collection for autographs cause he wanted to see them.
