Whoa!!! Leave Here a Stranger has almost double the sales of any the other higher selling albums. 46,870 total albums sold?! I think Jason was asked if he knew the total sales for all his records in a prior post too. Now we know part of the sales. Thanks for the info Levi.

I seem to remember seeing Leave Here a Stranger being promoted more than the records preceding it. There was a poster or two in my local big-chain cd store at the time of it's release, and it sat towards the front in a "featured" release section. This may explain it's higher sales numbers. Don't ask me why T&N hasn't done more promotion for SF59 records...that is another topic altogether.

I seem to remember Leave Here a Stranger being promoted slightly heavily.
But really, is it a surprise that his best two albums sold the most records?

Yes, Dial M sold 532 its first week and is selling around 30 albums or so a week right now. so far, a bit over 1500 sold so far. Cd sales only, however. This does not include vinyl

I seem to remember reading an article that Gold sold over 10,000 copies. The article was something along the lines that Gold did not sell well to start, and Martin thought about quiting outright, but then it picked up sales and surpassed the Silver album.

I also seem to remember it being higher. Is this only the sales from the U.S.?

Maybe the over 10,000 count was based on Tooth and Nail numbers? I used to order by mail through their print catalog since these titles (like Scaterd Few, Blamed, Mortal, etc.) were not available in my area retailers. (I could be dating myself.)

you are saying that LHAS & TVvsSV are the best two records? uhhh...OK. i think it's cool that these numbers are meager, as it adds to the "this is my band - don't tell anybody" nature of most obsessions.

I think my favorite and/or opinion on which is best most depends on which one I've forgotten and recently rediscovered. How long has this Soundscan been keeping track of purchases? If it were newer, it would have, of course, missed older sales, like "Gold" when it came out--but it would also show how well older albums like that continue to sell!

i think i remember reading Jason saying that the average starflyer album has sold around 10,000 copies, but that the older albums have sold more than the newer. so those numbers look a little low, but maybe if you factor in like digital sales, from itunes and such, then the albums have sold higher.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. If you actually read the post, you'd see that Old and LHAS are the two that sold the most.
