or you could, uh, hit up a friend who would, uh, do it for free? wink-nudge-wink.

if you'll supply the dvds, i'll do everything else. i WAS gung-ho on going completely blu-ray with everything... but if you'll supply the discs for dvd, i really wouldnt mind.
To make a transfer of 8mm you need to find a local place that does transfers. I'm not sure about pricing, but you could probably get it done for under $40.
your rates for paying a guy are some what modest from my inquiries.... i talked to Video Revolution (here in tulsa at 71st and Lewis) about it (i had a REALLY bad warped tape, and wondered if their equipment would do better than mine to transfer, so i called and got a quote), and they said that to convert tape to digital format would be 25 bucks per hour of video. i told them don't edit it, dont cut it. just dub it from tape to DV-AVI and i'll supply an external HDD to store it on, and still 25 bucks per hour of video. sheesh! maybe i missed my calling

i just jurry rigged it and did it again myself for free. quality was lacking... still.... but greatly improved over my first attempt.
