I'll bet some of you have already seen this, but Velvet Blue Music recently put out a double-disc compilation of its early (with some exceptions) seven-inch vinyl records. It's definitely worth it for any fan of the label, but in particular the compilation includes both of the rare Bon Voyage singles as well as songs from many other bands Jason has been connected with, or have been connected with Jason (if there's any real distinction there)--like Pony Express, Jupiter James, Fine China, and Richard Swift. Also of note is I think the whole thing consists of "needle drops," i.e., the CD was made from recordings of the singles being played and not from non-vinyl masters. That will probably divide some people but I think it's pretty neat as it's really like listening to the original things.

Since VBM doesn't seem able to put up tracklistings, here are the two entries I submitted to MusicBrainz.

Yeah - those needle drops get real annoying after a few listens.  You don't buy a CD to hear that.  I own a lot of those vinyls, so I was disappointed to get the CDs that weren't from the masters. I could have created this CD myself and saved some money, but you live and learn I guess.

Maybe someone here would be interested in taking it off your hands. Smiley

It's kind of weird "The Zoo" is missing part of its opening. "We'll Last So Long" is, too, but it's been noted the original single actually came out that way (I haven't listened to my copy yet . . . sheesh, and it's been a year).

Jetenderpaul: Does all their music sound like these four songs? To sum it up, I'd say it sounds so horrible it's awesome. Sounds like they dropped their guitars (to detune them) then played them that way...

Jetenderpaul is amazing.

their debut album (which is really rare) Trying Signals, is a lot like these tracks.

I also love the songs on the samplers from way back in the day:  cavalcade and Epson.

their other albums are also great, but I like trying signals the best.
