I wish his new album was called "Dial M for Metal". He did a crappy blues album. I think a metal album is in order.
Crappy blues? Where?! Shocked

M for Metal would be sweet to see from SF59. Grin

I am the Portuguese Blues was as much the Starflyer blues album as Americana was the Starflyer metal album.

IATPB was the "crappy blues" album. I think Jason called it that in that interview he did recently (it's posted somewhere on the board) when he spoke of Eric Clapton's blues records.

I'm rooting for a Starflyer cover album.

Meh. Blues? Look elsewhere, SF59 isn't it. (Except the hidden part 2 of The Party)

Nah, that was more like Easy Listening / Smooth Jazz.

Speaking of Easy Listening / Smooth Jazz, why doesn't this board have a barfing emoticon?

Starflyer 59 can easily be described a lot as Easty Listening. LHAS, Old, EMM, and the Fashion Focus all have quite a few "easy listening" type songs.

And how can you not like smooth jazz! That's like...a sin!  Cry

Jazz is cool. Maybe Smooth Jazz isn't the right word for the style I'm thinking of, but whatever the heck style Kenny G plays, that stuff is just bland.

Yeah, some of those Starflyer songs do really fade into the background if you let them, but there's a lot going on in the songs (particularly in LHAS) if you pay attention.

But I think Old is way too loud to be Easy Listening.

So I went to Imeem and typed in "Ghosts of the Future". I  listened to a few of the songs...they're pretty decent. I really like this instrumental called "Spooky".

So basically, he's just going to choose certain songs from his Ghosts of the Future series and compile an album out of them?  Lips sealed

It was announced at the very beginning that the A-sides from Ghosts of the Future would be demo versions of songs slated for Starflyer's next full-length album. (And the b-sides would be exclusive to the box set.)

So Jason isn't "going to choose certain songs from his Ghosts of the Future series and compile an album out of them", rather GOTF is a super-deluxe expanded collection of Dial M demos.

This may be a bit off topic (please, no nastygrams) but since the song Please, Please, Please is on GOTF it is kind of applicable.

Over the weekend I was watching the movie This Is England. To my plesant surprise the song "Please, Please, Please" is used in the film.  The version was way mellow and obviously not done by The Smiths.  So I did some researching and found the artist who covered it.  The band/artist is called Clayhill.  It isn't as cool as the SF59 version but still worthy to check out.

Smooth jazz is mistitled. It has nothing to do with the likes of Coltrane, Gillespie, et al. I prefer real jazz.

Now back to GOTF. Have you tried pronouncing GOTF? It's sounds like 'got-iff'. <--dumb comment
