does anyone know what song "Jim" became? it was excised from the final track list and not renamed at the close of the journal...
just curious if we've actually already heard it on an ep or something with a different name.

Interesting.. Wonder what those "crazy vocals" sounded like.
Could Jim be one of the songs from I Am the Portuguese Blues..?

Thanks for this great find! Re-reading these brings back great memories of me in my old college apt, waiting each day for the latest recording updates & downloading the demos as they were made available. Good times!

I never read the journal entries, so this was really cool to read. It makes me think about how great that album is.

too bad the Sheriff link didn't work..
maybe an Admin can copy/save the whole article and lock it down in the wiki or something so that we've got it forever...?

I've still got the download for The Sheriff demo. I'll see if I can post it somewhere.

I've actually had that journal saved from a year or two ago, back when I was sniffing around the archived versions of starflyer59.net. Personally, the descriptions seem to indicate the album was going to be even more awesome than how it turned out, and I still think it is one of the stronger albums. I think the best part is where they recorded a guitar part played through the car stereo...
I'll definitely look into adding this journal to the wiki, or creating a link, or something.
By the way, if you look hard enough, there are Windows media videos for "No New Kinda Story" and "A Housewife Love Song" saved in the Internet Archive, which is astounding given simple pictures are rarely archived properly. I'll try to find the links again for you all.

Nice find. I remember reading this and being amazed how anything ever got finished. I wish they talked more about some of the songs, there really didn't seem to b much much about New Wife, New Life or A Kissing Song or Unbelievers.

The journal confirms the Pink Floyd influence.
