The Bloomington, Indiana record labels Crossroads of America Records and Flannelgraph Records are happy to announce their 2010 3" compact disc subscription service, Laminar Excursion Monthly.
This joint effort brings together the rosters of both labels as well as such notable artists as Richard Swift, Damien Jurado, Cotton Jones, J. Tillman, Desolation Wilderness,  Bexar Bexar, Danny Grody (of Tarentel and The Drift), Saxon Shore, and a host of others.
Subscribers will receive two new 3" cds at the beginning of every month of 2010.  A unique box to hold the discs will be sent with the initial shipment.
Even if the rest of your world falls apart, you can still count on having two new compact discs arriving in your mailbox each month for the entire year.
Laminar Excursion Monthly will be limited to 100 subscribers.
The yearly subscription fee, including postage, is $45.00 until January 1st.
If any subscriptions are still available at that point, the fee will be raised to $50.00.
Subscriptions will be available at www.xrarecords.com beginning Monday, November 2nd.

I mainly got it for Cotton Jones and Swift, and just the fact that it seemed like a cool idea.

Unfortunately, I haven't listened much as my portable CD player apparently makes 3" CD's skip.  Undecided

At some point I'll have to convert them all to normal CD so I can listen on the road (where I get most of my listening done). Unfortunately, it seems most computers want to turn your files into MP3 instead of keeping them in original full WAV form.

the CJ and Swift contributions are both great! bummer about your player, though.
i've been really happy with all of the music so far. there are still a lot of great ones coming down the tube, too. including vollmar and bexar bexar, just to name a couple...
