So I've been fairly out of the loop for quite a while. Yesterday, I decided to wipe my iPod and start from scratch. As I made my sf59 playlist with strict chronology, I came here to see if there was anything new brewing. Imagine my surprise when reading that their is a new album releasing...TODAY! I suppose the only disappointment is that I would like to go to Best Buy and pick it up today but whether they will have it or not looks questionable. I must resist the temptation to download and wait for a physical copy. I can do this.

Or if there is a Xian bookstore where you live they may or may not have it. I've yet to figure out where I'm going to buy a copy today. I've not had an easy time locating a Starflyer album on its release date since TVvSV. When Dial M was released I couldn't even find it in a store.

Our Mustard Seed has this...They have had every SF59 album since Gold (probably Silver too, but I never saw it there)...

Oh, I was referring to Amazon (downloading legally). But I'd rather buy the physical cd since I have every other SF release. Yeah, I might check out an indie store not too far from me...or I might buy from Deepdiscount. It's 11.97 w/free shipping. Though I'm guessing it will take a week or so to get here. Wow, am I out of the loop...I didn't even know Neon Horse existed!

I actually downloaded the album for 7.99 from Amazon, and ordered the hard copy from someone on Amazon too. Sux that I can't get the artwork the same day, but since I don't spend money like this on any other bands, I found it an exceedingly pleasant luxury to have the album loaded on my ipod at 5:45am on the day of the release! I enjoyed an awesome cup of kenya roasted coffee and listened to my most anticipated sf59 release of the past 6 years. It was worth every penny I don't have...

I also downloaded the album from Amazon. Also ordered the cd from CD Universe for $14.17 (shipping included), estimated arrival is Friday. Loving the new album!

I haven't been this excited and happy with a SF59 album since "Old", and COTG tops all in my opinion...what an incredible album. I feel like I just discovered Starflyer for the first time all over again.

I will chime in and say that I think the album is good but not necessarily great.
I don't hear many format differences which many people have talked about in the thread, such as the person a while ago who was comparing the album to EMM (or even TVvSV) after getting an advance copy. Musically (certainly not lyrically), it seems like it could be Dial M part 2 to me. That being said, I wasn't a Dial M hater. I just feel that this album doesn't stray too far from that style, which isn't what I was hoping for because I feel that it doesn't always bode very well in full album format. There are some pretty cool artistic features on the album, such as the short yet unique intros to Fun is Fun and Time Machine. The middle of the album is where I think it gets a little tedious and filler-sounding, also similar to Dial M, which is a shame because it features some of my favorite SF song titles - Morning Rise / Frightening Eyes and Coconut Trees. I do agree with a previous comment that Cry Me A River and Kick The Can back-to-back is one of the biggest highlights on the album. I also feel underwhelmed with Lose My Mind. It's not a bad track, but it doesn't feel like an adequate album closer to me, but maybe I just have animosity because I typically love SF's closing tracks, and even ILYLTLB was pretty awesome.
It has the capability to be my favorite since Old, since that's always a revolving door. But overall I feel that it will end up a lot like Dial M did for me, a couple of really good tracks but as a whole I don't know how often I'll spin the record.

The album does blend a bit too well, most songs sound maybe a little too much alike. But it's such an improvement from Dial M.. I still don't like most of that album. "Shane" is magic though. "The Morning Rise/Frightening Eyes" is something I could obsess about - I was tossing and turning couldn't sleep, got up, realized the album is out, downloaded MP3s, and hear a nice mellow morning track.
