Jason's said his plan is to put out about 20 albums before retiring. This is only album 12.

i think eastwoodjive has a point. it's hard to ignore some of the things he's been saying. Jason's not required to write 20 albums. he just wanted to, right? when i think about it, i am fairly amazed at how much material jason and ronnie have each put out.
but even if jason were to end what we know as sf59, i wouldn't be surprised if he found another outlet of musical expression. still, who knows.

I must admit I don't understand what "tip-on style" is.

"And if I was free, free to leave. But it's my kids, they need to eat."

Chances are, retirement is not soon.
Which is really good. I don't know what I'd do if SF59 retired.

It's an older-style record sleeve printing technique where the the cover art is printed on an outer layer of paper instead of directly on the cardboard that the sleeve is made of. makes the inks brighter and generally look better.

there's a much better explanation if you use google to search discogs.org...

He's been writing songs about how unfulfilling the rockstar life is since Everybody Makes Mistakes. And no one took Dial M (named for the Hitchcock film Dial M for Murder) as a threat to kill anyone.

He doesn't have to put out 20 records, but it's what he said he wanted to do, as recently as the lead-up to releasing Dial M, so I think it makes more sense to assume his attitude hasn't changed until he outright states that it has.

If you mean like on Silver and Gold, probably never.
To me we have always kinda been doing the same thing we started off doing, just some different instrumentation...But ya, I doubt we will put out an album that sounds like gold.

...this is and always will be a band who will deliver great songs with new sounds. The latest installment, The Changing Of The Guard, is no exception to Starflyer 59's glowing catalogue. Featuring the songs: "Shane" and "Trucker's Son".

Three actually. Last year there was a demo on Sf's myspace page called "Kick the Can".

Ha. The usual crowd would have aneurysms if that happened.

Test pressings are on sale for $30.59.

http://www.burnttoastvinyl.com/blog/?p=1134

...now if i only had $30.59....

Quote
Test pressings for Starflyer 59’s The Changing of the Guard album will go on sale this Wednesday, 16 June at 9pm EDT. This will be limited to the first 25 purchasers and will cost $30.59. The Changing of the Guard will be an LP and a 7″ with two bonus tracks in a deluxe, thick gatefold jacket, similar to those used for Unwed Sailor’s Little Wars, Bosque Brown’s Baby, and mewithoutyou’s It’s All Crazy. The vinyl will likely ship prior to the artwork. Additionally, final production copies of The Changing of the Guard will be on colored vinyl and the test pressings are anticipated to be on the same colored vinyl if everything goes properly at the factory. The official release date of the album is Tuesday, 10 August, so test pressing purchasers will be able to hear the album in advance of the official release.

Pre-orders of the actual release will also begin this Wednesday. Additionally, two 7″ in the Starflyer 59 Ghosts of the Future 7″ box set series were incorrectly pressed on white vinyl. We have a bunch of them. We’ll sell them to you as a $6.59 pair until they’re gone (without artwork since the excellent folks at HYMY Industries did not press enough extras to cover the mis-pressing).
