I know there aren't that many overall. And supposedly some of the ones on Gold that we might consider lovesongs are about guys according to Cloud.

Good question! (if a little late)

"Leigh and Me"
"My Name"
"West Coast Friendship"

Some songs I want to count like "A Good Living," 'cause he says he wants to make his girl money but his girl isn't exactly the focus of the song. Same with "I Love You Like the Little Bird."

Totally opposite in feel but I'd have to say "My Name" and "Messed Up Over You"  Would you consider "Housewife Love Song" to actually be a love song?

Well, Julie Martin was in the video.

"Destiny", definitely. It's their saddest love song, in my opinion.

Curious - what makes you think that is a "love song"?

Regarding "Fell in Love at 22", maybe I'm reaching. "West Coast Friendship" is just a sad, sad song.

"Happy Birthday John" is a lovesong for incoming alcohol abuse, therapy sessions, legal fees, custody battles.

Just a personal interpretation of my own, of course. The verses can seem to me like the doubting of a relationship and then the desperate "If it's destiny, then play our song" plea of the chorus. Like, you know, the protagonist knows they're "never going to make it", yet, there's this naive clinging to the idea that if their "song" is played, everything will be OK.

Who knows? It could be about anything! I was also thinking it could be about the band itself, with the "Play our song" thing... but I don't believe SF59 has even been to Japan. Could also be about a friend, or anything...

Yeah, interesting perspective. I never thought of it like that. Figured he was referring to band members.

That line about Japan is odd  Tongue

What about "All the Time"?

We don't make the world go round
We don't know much about
Life and little things
We don't make it happen
We don't make it happen
All the time

Love a world that's not your own
And pretty soon we'll go home
Find some real love
That'll make us happy
That'll make us happy
All the time

All the time...

I've interpreted "Destiny" as being romantically inclined, too... but I don't think I'd go as far as "love song." I don't know exactly how I want to define "love song," I would mostly apply that label on a per-song basis.
