where do you see that?/how do you know that?

is it for sure going to be a picture disc? (i'd be really disappointed). picture discs have the worst sound quality and they're harder to store. if it at least has a normal cardboard sleeve with the coverart, i'd be content. but if it's in one of those clear plastic sleeves... arghhh....

This has got to be a joke, right? Half the coolness of a vinyl is the cardboard jacket art. Picture discs usually = half the coolness/half the product, x2 on the price. Not a good deal if you ask me. Just look at The Last Laurel.

The last laurel was a one-sided 12" with a silk screen on the back, not a picture disc. I also got it for $7.

Old will be a picture disc, in a plastic sleeve and affordable!

Please please please don't make a picture disc. Old is my favorite SF59 album, and I'd hate to see it released on such an inferior medium. Picture discs always sound bad, and they rarely look good. I own a few albums on both picture disc and regular vinyl, and there's just no comparison. Plus, no conventional jacket means no insert, no lyrics, and no nice big album art. The plastic sleeves always split at the seams, and they're bad for the vinyl. Plus, it's more expensive to manufacture, which means more expensive to sell. I beg you, please don't put Old out on a picture disc.

Hmm, I have to agree with no picture disc.

How come the Crossroads website lists Silver as a vinyl RE-issue? As far as I know that was the first time Silver had ever been released to vinyl.  Huh

Where was The Last Laurel being sold for $7? I never saw it for less than $15, which was kind of steep for a disc with only 5 songs and no jacket. I still want it, but just can't justify paying that much for so little (even if it is silk-screened or whatever). I would have paid $7 for it, though.

i won it on ebay a while back...i went for the black one because it was cheaper, but the red one ended up going for only $10! i should have bid on both...

and i promise the Old LP will have more than five songs on it, and be reasonably priced.

I bought the Last Laurel vinyl when it was released (first vinyl I ever bought FWIW) and, well, I can't remember what it cost new from ROTR but I'm pretty sure it was under $15.

I distinctly remember a price tag of $20 to buy it from RoTR when it was first released.

i definitely appreciate the feedback, but just so everyone knows, "looks like the OLD lp will be out sometime this summer. these things look really good, and i can't wait" was meant to be more of an announcement than a question.

we're taking every precaution that these LPs will sound good, look good, and be as inexpensive as possible. i'm looking at mid/late summer for a release date. really, can't wait!

Hey man, I'll buy it either way. I'd rather have a nice sleeve with artwork, and a great sounding record.

I'll buy it too. Will be sad not to have the sleeve though. I have all of the other albums in frames in my office.
