I think Jason's playing is the best in that set (of the official live recordings we have). I don't know what it is exactly, but he just seems to play the notes better.

his playing on plugged is the best. (or did you skip past the feedback lead lines in "blue collar love"Huh) now, his singing is kinda wild on live at the paradox. it's a lot higher than usual.

Jason's guitar is clearly going out of tune very easily on Plugged, and that, plus some sour chords or notes here and there kind of ruin it for me. That, and the guitar sounds a bit "naked" at times.

True about the guitar tuning. That Tomfest Texas recording does sound pretty out of tune as well.

i have to say that the "sour chords" & tune shifting is what does it for me.
i LOVE that recording...it sounds so real.
plus, it's how they sounded then & that period of time is what first endeared me to those songs.
maybe i am just old...
