What if TCOTG was the last Starflyer album? Would you be sad? Would you wish for a final show or DVD? Would you be angry if Starflyer ended and Neon Horse continued?
So let's say this is the end for Starflyer. Did you feel like Jason maxed out his abilities? Should he continue making music under a different name? Do you have regrets as a fan for not going to more shows? Is this a surprise or did you sense the end was near?

Sometimes I wonder what Starflyer would sound like if Gene Eugene was still around.

It seems to me SF59 reached their orgasmic peak and has even gone past the afterglow. The most recent releases are just tossing and turning in the dirty sheets.
That being said, I won't be disappointed if it's the last (unless things are very different next time around). But I'll buy it, and anything else that comes forth from the Martin Manor. Despite how I've not liked the sound of the most recent releases, the man is still a musical genius.
Personally. I don't think the end for Starflyer is near.

Just look at this boy eat! He's really gobbling his food. Then he doesn't get any exercise. Instead, he lies in front of the television set and dreams about eating more food!

It would be sad naturally, but not sad in a deep way, really. Jason has released more music than the majority of my favorite artists, and it is hard to not be impressed by his consistency, even with dwindling fan support in the later years (not literally, but with never truly "breaking out" like many of us probably anticipated way back then).
I suppose it also depends on how I enjoy TCOTG, because if it's a swan song that simply isn't very good, it would be kind of sad to see him go out on that note.
I think it would be downright odd for someone to be upset/angry if Jason were to continue working with Neon Horse and other projects after the last SF59 material was put out. I don't think any Pavement or Smiths fans are/were upset about Stephen Malkmus forming The Jicks or Morrisey's solo career. Maybe someone would have some bizarre integrity reason, but artists are just humans who like a change of scenery just like the listener, and in the end you are only getting more and more music out of a musician you enjoy.
Lastly, it wouldn't really surprise me per se. When someone has put out over 10 albums, I would say you could legitimately predict the end might be looming with every release. And obviously we all know what Jason has said in interviews. That his touring days are over, most of his time is concentrated on family, etc. That coupled with the fact that it would be shocking to see the band gain any more popularity at this point is a sign that we're nearing the end. I do wish I had made it out to more shows (or, a single show for that matter), but that's more to do with the fact that I became a fan later than most and, well, the fact that they just didn't tour much then, so it was mostly out of my control. As for a DVD of the last show, yes, sign me up.

I'm really hoping it's not the opposite.. Neon Horse has been too quiet after the second album release.. But if Jason would work with Neon Horse more, I wouldn't mind.. I really doubt this is SF59's last album (and honestly don't have a clue why some are hinting it is), instead I think this will be an uprising album for SF59. Both commercially and lyrically.

If this were the end for Sf59, I'd be a little ticked at Jason for telling us his plan was to put out 20 albums before retiring.

End or not, I haven't been overly impressed with anything starflyer has put out since, Old. I like IAPTB and Dial M, and the other two in between aren't bad but they certainly aren't memorable.
the first four full length's and their ep's (especially plugged) were like a revelation.
I don't think Jason has done anything wrong, I just think his style has changed with the times and I'm still caught in the past.
That said I would love to hear some starflyer that brings back the old days, a little depressing, a lot of feedback, layers of sound, and all the for goodness sake, more guitar solos.
That said, I look forward to hearing what's next, even if it is the end.
