According to an old T&N catalogue, this was the original title for "The Fashion Focus". They were advertising the next SF59 album to be coming out later that year and listed this as its title. While what they went with was great, I still think that calling it "Sad Lives" would have been hilarious and an accurate description of Hollywood. Whenever I hear of another movie star divorce I think of this title and sadly that means I think about it quite often!

Wow.. All of a sudden the title "Shut Your Mouth" has so much meaning! And I love it! Grin

Very interesting! Maybe he could recycle it into an EP title or something.

I read in an interview with Jason that there was a rumor of Americana being called Blue. Funny stuff. Your right on good past leads.

Aren't the tracks on I Am The Portuguese Blues from about that time? That has an all-blue cover. The original name for Americana could have inspired it.

Sorry I can't scan it for you as that catalogue has been lost in the shuffle of my many moves. It was one that came with a Tooth and Nail CD back in spring of 98. I just remember thinking that that would be the best album title.

I always liked the single color album covers and I wish they had continued it. I also liked the single color discs from Joy Electric, and wish that had continued as well. I love that SF59 went back to that with Portuguese Blues cause it fits in with the era of Silver, Gold, and Americana.

I also wish he would have kept that old Star numbering system.  I think it went up to at least Le Vainqueur, if not Americana as well...a little note on the spine of the CDs that said "Star 1" or whatever number release it was, like NIN's Halos.  It was just kinda fun.
