So this is a SF59 fan forum, we're always talking about how much we love them and how great hier albums are. But despite how awesome they are every band has it's faults and there must be some things you don't like about them. There surely is at least one song you think is overated? One album you were disappointed with? Let it rip...
Also, lets prepare ourselves for some extreme ripping on "I am the portugese blues"...

Well, first and foremost, the thing I hate most about SF59 is the lack of touring (although I do understand the circumstances).
I really dislike some songs off of both Dial M and TCOTG which I would label as "filler", partly because that's going to happen when releasing so many albums, and partly due to the artistic style of those albums.
No New Kinda Story is a song that I've always felt was overrated. I don't even think it's one of the better songs on that album.
I never listen to IATPB, in fact I deleted it from my online library. I rarely listen to My Island.

I think "Fell in Love at 22" is easily the most overrated song in sf59's catalogue. I'm not saying it's bad. I'm just saying it gets way too much love.
My Island could've been a little more varied and adventurous in places.
That's about it. sf59 is one of my top favorite groups for a reason... Jason generally doesn't disappoint me.

I hate Dial M. M23, acoustic Mr. Martin, and Please please please are the worst. Wah-wah, I don't like my Starflyer whining in bad mixes.

I wouldn't really say I hate it, at least I'm okay with it now, but I was disappointed with the riff at the end of Things Like This Help Me. It seems kind of unoriginal to me, or the way it was done was too obvious. Otherwise that album was nearly perfect.

I agree with everything you've said here apart from your last paragraph on IATPB and My Island. Although IATPB is very different from thier other stuff and has a lot of fillers, I think it is majorly underrated.

The "I Win" music video No touring, no shows I wouldn't say I hate it, but I don't care for Dial M or My Island. Though the latter is preferable to the former.

There's nothing I 'hate' about Starflyer at all.
I'm glad Jason is doing everything on his own terms. I like every album and think IATPB is severely underrated. Obviously it's not a deep record, but for pure T. Rex rock n roll swagger it's a really fun record.
I'm bummed i haven't seen him live since the 'Americana' days but i understand why he doesn't tour.

MY ISLAND! such a forgettable album if you ask me.
To all the haters, I think Dial M is awesome- best record since Everybody Makes Mistakes. I know the new mixes (last 3 or 4 albums) are kind of sterile- but the songs on Dial M are gold.
and Portuguese Blues was awesome. To all the whiners, if Jason had continually remade Silver for 15 years you wouldn't even care about Starflyer anymore. Jason has mastered re-creating his sound but still including all those nuances we love about Starflyer underneath it all. Portuguese Blues is a perfect change-up album.

I hate that after The Fashion Focus they lost the feedback layered songs.
I hate that the last "great SF59 album" is Old.
However, I love the Plugged album, the Tom Fest 1998 Album and the Heavenly Riffs Album.

Another thing that bugs me, when I notice it, and again this is more disappointment than hate, is how Jason seems to often make the endings of songs really repetitive. This seems most prevalent or noticeable with a lot of the songs on Gold, but it happens a lot with other songs as well, and even goes beyond Starflyer, such as in Bon Voyage.

yeah. like the brutal ending for Nice Guy? i Edited my version down to like 3 minutes with Audition i think i may have tweaked some other songs and elements too to give it a better listening experience, but can't really recal which ones. Nice guy though, that 2 minutes of nonsense really breaks the listen-ability of the album, at such an early stage, i think.
